Junior Achievement of Lake and Sumter Counties is leading the way. Today, JA delivers over 600 economic workforce ready programs to our young people in every Lake County public school reaching over 13,000 students. JA began offering the JA programs in Sumter County beginning with the 2008-2009 school year. These programs are delivered through the volunteer efforts of over 350 community leaders. These generous volunteers offer their time during the day to deliver these programs and serve as a mentor to the students. Students are given an insight into what the REAL WORLD is like. Volunteers share the knowledge of what they know today what everyone wishes they had known when they were in school. Things such as balancing a budget, how to obtain credit and not go into debt, how to interview, how to show up on time for work, what careers are available, why we need both leaders and followers, why it is important to get a good education, and much, much more.
However, in order for us to continue making a difference in Lake and Sumter Counties, we need your support. JA is supported solely by the generosity of the community. We do not take dollars from the schools 8 0 those are needed to support the academics for our youth. All of our programs are delivered to the schools at no charge to the students or the schools.
Won’t you help? You can sponsor a student, a class, a group of classes, or an entire school! Or you can volunteer to become a JA consultant and deliver the JA program to our youth. Whether you give $1 or $1,000,000 or teach 1 class or lots of classes you can be sure that some child in Lake County or Sumter County is becoming better prepared to enter the workforce. Remember – the student you help through your investment may be your future employee, your next Senator, or perhaps even your future boss. Help us educate our youth today.
